On Your Mark, Get Set, Go!

Stanislaus Special OlympicsHow far is far, how high is high, we’ll never know until we try” is constantly being put to test by the team at Stanislaus Special Olympics (SSO). This Saturday, April 26th at JFK High School in Ceres; athletes from Mariposa and Merced Counties will join Stanislaus in the Regional Northern California Special Olympics Track and Field Tournament. “This is the first time we have athletes competing with us from other counties and we encourage folks to attend and support our athletes”, says John Wray, Director of SSO Division. The athletes will take part in the Regionals and have the opportunity to qualify to compete in the state level Summer Games in July. (www.sonc.org/sports/county/stanislaus)

Opening ceremonies will begin at 9am with special guests and local dignitaries present to show their support, including Shriners clowns, Modesto PD equestrian honor guard, Kristen Olsen, CA State Assembly and Shelli Margarite, VMRC to name some!
